Winter Blues

Sadly it is getting so cold and dark that not enough customers wish to come out in the cold (who can blame them)

With that thought, we will be winding down until after the New Year from the middle of this week.

So for now, may we wish all customers (especially the children) A Merry Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all again in the (Sunny) New Year

Sunday 4 November 2012

Poynton Bonfire 2012

We got off to a flying start after the half term holiday by attending the great Poynton Bonfire.
!! CLICK HERE !! To visit Poynton Round Table website

Over the coming week, we shall be trading on the winter timetable which means we are restricted by weather and daylight. We will be out and about but not as often.

We will also be putting the hot dogs in over the next week. Weather permitting, we should be back on Yew Tree this week.

Monday 10 September 2012

A great, late summer last week

The sun shone almost all week and many customers had a chance to enjoy a fresh whippy. We managed to visit three schools, lots of residents in Poynton, Bollington and Tytherington.

The forecast for this week is more Autumnal, but so long as it is dry and bright, we will try to cover as many areas as possible.

Don't forget, if you can hear our chimes, you can "text a whippy" and we will try to pop around as quickly as possible.

Tuesday 4 September 2012

The schools go back, and the weather is good!!

On Monday, the first school back was Lostock Hall so we visited them at the end of their day and made a few children smile.

On Tuesday we visited Lower Park and repeated the process of making the kids smile with their hard earned treats.

On Wednesday it will be business as usual when we return to our regular spot at the High School, it is always fun the first week of the new school year as all the year seven pupils find their feet. Within a week or two they have settled in and relaxed at their "big school"

I look forward to seeing all customers old and new over the coming days. Don't forget, if you hear Mr Whippys chimes in the distance, you can text your road to me directly on: 07783 263 271 and I will do my best to pop around quickly with your fresh dairy ice cream!!

Monday 30 July 2012

Closed until 12th August

We have secured a holiday for the whippy family and will be away until August 12th.

For those of you remaining, may the sun shine in Cheshire East and Poynton and we look forward to seeing you on our return!!

Happy Holidays

Sunday 29 July 2012

Busy Ice Cream week in Poynton

With the High School closed, we were able to visit Vernon Primary on Monday and Tuesday and then switch to Lower Park for the final three days of their school year.

It was nice to see so many children (some already regular customers) enjoying the sunshine and ice cream.

The weather is sadly cooling down again over the weekend but hopefully will return to traditional summer soon!!

Have a great holiday kids (and parents) We are looking for a flight ourselves, so if we go missing for a week, remember, Hasta la vista - We will be back - The Whippy-nator

Sunday 22 July 2012

Birthday party in Hazel Grove

On Saturday we attended a joint birthday party in Hazel Grove and made lots of children happy at the end of an exciting day.

From there we visited Poynton before travelling to a fun day at Pott Shrigley cricket club and visiting Bollington.

Busy week for Cheshire Whippy

On Thursday morning we visited Bredbury Green Nursery and made some children very happy with a fresh whippy.

We then went to Poynton High as they closed early for the Summer break.

From there it was back to Bredbury Green Nursery for the children attending the afternoon session.

Saturday 7 July 2012

Great Moor Park Fun and Football

Today we attended a fantastic event at Great Moor Park in Stockport. The day was bright and warm (for a change) and with burgers and a Bouncy Castle, the kids soon needed their favourite whippy to keep them going. Eventually the adults caught on and joined in the great Whippy eating contest.

From there and as it was still such a nice evening, we "whipped" up to Poynton to serve as many residents as possible.

It reminded me of that great song, all you need is Sun!!

What a shame about the Summerfest tomorrow.

Friday 6 July 2012

Prospect Vale Primary enjoy a Whippy Ice Cream

Despite the downpour, we attended with our friends at mrwhippyicecream.co.uk

The prospect Vale school in Heald Green. As usual the children all enjoyed their ice creams and everyone seemed to make the most of the day.

Higher Poynton Summerfest Cancelled

It seems the event has been cancelled due to the weather. More info from the Parish Council website: With considerable reluctance, disappointment and frustration, the organising Committee has taken the decision to cancel the above event due to adverse weather conditions, rendering the site unsafe. This is a great pity, given the amount of work that had gone into this popular community event, together with the generous sponsorship and raffle prizes it had attracted. The small but enthusiastic band of volunteers is undeterred, and will shortly start planning for next year!

Monday 2 July 2012

Warren Wood primary school

On Saturday we visited Warren Wood primary school in conjunction with our friends from: mrwhippyicecream.co.uk
They were having their Summer fair which included the following attractions:   Climbing wall, Face painting, Slide, Bouncy Castle, Coconut Shy, plants, Beat the Goalie, bar etc. etc..

Despite several showers, the children seemed to have a great day along with the parents and staff.

After this we popped for a late lunch before "whipping" around Poynton to serve as many customers as possible before dark.

Wednesday 27 June 2012

Poynton Scouts Sports Day

After a busy day at Wilmslow High school, we dashed back and served the pupils of Poynton High their usual ice creams and drinks, we continued around the village as the rare sun stayed with us.

At the very end of the day (long past Mr Whippy's bedtime) we stayed to serve some of the lucky scouts at Deva playing fields after their sports day.

Well done the scouts

Cheshire Whippy was very busy today at Wilmslow High School

We attended Wilmslow High school where around 800 pupils had walked to Alderley Edge and back, and what spurred many of them on, was the thought of a cool whippy ice cream waiting for them.

We are not too sure what the walk was in aid of, but thanks to Mr Vincent and Mr Munro and all the staff and pupils for their support

Will Summer return?

The great British weather, what would we do without it to talk about? So far June has been a challenging month for the whippy trade but luckily we have only had to cancel one pre-booked event.

It has meant however that we have not been out and about in between as normal on the streets.

Let's all hope the summer returns with a vengence.

Sunday 17 June 2012

Margot's 6th Birthday in Macclesfield

After the wet but fun day at Poynton embrace games, the whippy team took off to Macclesfield where Margot and all her friends were eagerly awaiting our arrival.

All the children jumped into the whippy van and with lots of giggles and fun, each one made themselves their own fresh whippy ice cream, they didn't spill a drop, well done girls!!

Happy Birthday

Saturday 16 June 2012

Poynton 2012 Embrace the Games:

Despite the rain, the day was a great success and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The Mayor turned up as did many children and parents.

Quite a few residents enjoyed a whippy in the rain, as did the 2448 squadron (ATC)

Well done to Erica and her team for staging the event.

Wednesday 13 June 2012

We also serve the Duchess of Cambridge

Mr Whippy recently had the pleasure of serving the Queen a tasty cor(o)net during the jubilee, we have recently discoverd Kate Middleton the Duchess of Cambridge also loves a whippy.

The only downside of serving the Royals, is of course, you don't get paid.

Cheshire Whippy Ice Cream look forward to seeing you on Saturday

Cheshire Whippy serves the Queen

Over the Jubilee weekend we attended many celebrations including Churchwood Financial Services staff party, where we had the pleasure to serve "Her Majesty" one of our favourite vanilla whippy ice creams. She declined our offer of sprinkles saying she preffered "sparkles" The day was a great success, many thanks to Rob and Chris at Churchwood.

We also attended Limefield Street party at Mile End Lane and York Road in Bowden. We visited some of our regulars in Bramhall and Poynton in between the showers.

Saturday 26 May 2012

Deva Park Fun Day and Barnaby Street Party

The Whippy Van was on full pelt today in Poynton. We arrived at Deva around 1.30 pm expecting a few customers, however within 30 minutes we were snowed out.

I hope everyone was served in a reasonable time and everyone had a fantastic day!!

From there we grabbed a quick lunch and then went to the Barnaby Street Party, where once again, everyone was having a great time.

We will be cleaning and re-stocking on Sunday, having finally left Poynton around 7.30pm with only a few lolly sticks and some empty wrappers left on the van.

We should be back, fully stocked at Yew Tree at 3pm on Monday.

Tuesday 24 April 2012

Whippy broke down today

And sadly we were unable to fix him in time for the school. He is back to whippy hospital again tomorrow where the whippy surgeons have all the spare parts to make him new again.

Sunday 22 April 2012

Macclesfield Rugby Club

Today we attended a very wet day at the Macclesfield Rugby Club and despite the terrible conditions, the children played on. Very few were tempted to buy a whippy though, most preferred a hot meal indoors (who could blame them)

It brightened up right at the end so a few lucky children talked mum & dad round and got a whippy.

We called at Bollington and Poynton and made the most of a very wet day!!

Tuesday 17 April 2012

Friday 23 March 2012

A Mr Whippy "99" really is good for you!!

Eat a lighter ice cream

The secret ingredient to the likeably lickable ice cream is … wait for it … air. When it’s whipped up in the machine, 1L of ice cream magically becomes a 2L serving. That means a Mr Whippy is one of the lightest summer snacks a man can go for. The 164 calories in a 99 compare well against the 220 in a Cornetto or the 275 in a Magnum Classic. You can work off a 99 in under half an hour in the summer sun. Ten minutes hard going in the pool or a 20-minute game of tennis will do the job. Or, if you can fi nd a secluded spot, 15 minutes of "fun" will also serve.

Add choc for heart health

The 32g of chocolate planted in your ice cream is more than a crumbly bit of window dressing. New research in the European Heart Journal found that people who ate at least 7.5g of chocolate a day had lower blood pressure and a 39% lower risk of having a heart attack compared to those who got by on a measly 1.7g each day. Although such benefits are usually only associated with dark chocolate, this study found the same effects with its milkier cousin – owing to flavonols in the cocoa, which build strength in the walls of your blood vessels.

So come on Mums (and dads) enjoy a fresh dairy whippy this summer!!

Sunday 18 March 2012

Brilliant Start to the season

This week we managed to visit 95% of Poynton at some stage. The response was fantastic. Many customers, old and new were delighted to enjoy a fresh, tasty whippy ice cream.

As the clocks change and during school holidays, we hope to be able to visit more often.

REMEMBER: CHILDREN RUN TO AND FROM THE ICE CREAM VAN - SLOW DOWN!!

Saturday 25 February 2012

Fantastic start to the season!! - Closed Sat/Sun 3rd & 4th March

We will be away for the weekend upgrading the van and stock. We will be back at Yew Tree as usual Monday. Have a good weekend.

The new whippy van has performed well on it's trial run. We have managed to visit almost every street in Poynton since Thursday, and even though it's been a bit cold, it has stayed dry.

It has been amazing to see customers, old and new and we are looking forward to a great year.

We have extra bank holidays for the Diamond Jubilee, fun and games during the Olympics and the usual football games.

If you've not caught up with the whippy yet, we will be about all next week, so long as the dreaded rain stays away.

Friday 24 February 2012

A Good Start to the Season

We made it to the High School yesterday and managed to continue around 75% of the village. The rest should be visited this afternoon and evening.

Here comes Summer, and Mr Whippy!!

Monday 20 February 2012

Cheshire Whippy ice cream is coming Thursday

The final preparations are being made to supply  customers with the "Twin Whippy"Tomorrow.

The sun is promised for Thursday 23rd Feb, and subject to unforseen breakdowns etc, so are we!!

Most of the stock is loaded, the machines and freezers have been overhauled and finally, a thorough deep cleaning process has been undertaken.

It is possible, with fair weather and smooth running, we could be on a trial run Thurs 23rd - 24th Feb. The planned schedule is Yew Tree  3 - 4pm and then a quick two hour flyer before the darkness arrives.

On the maiden voyage, we will not have the daylight to cover all Poynton, but we will do the rest tonight.

As the lighter nights and warmer weather continues we hope to roll out the service to cover the whole village.

RETURN OF THE WHIPPY - LATE FEB 2012 - NEW "DOUBLE BARRELLED" MACHINE!!  - FRESH DAIRY - COMING SOON!!

We managed to serve some customers in November, but understandably, there were fewer and fewer of you prepared to brave the freezing cold. The arrival of the snow was the sign of  "CLOSED FOR THE SEASON"
We have been away longer than hoped, due in no small part to obtaining the correct NEWER, Whippy van. These vehicles are not like buying a new Mondeo.
The van is being prepared in our workshop now!!

We look forward to seeing you in late February 2012
