East Cheshire Council needs your help

"The Council’s Licensing Enforcement Officer, Mrs Jackson, has carried out a number of visits to Poynton in order to try and locate this van and to confirm the details of the operator. To date, Mrs Jackson has not been able to locate the van and no further information has become available in response to the Licensing Section’s inquiries"

This is part of an e-mail sent to the whippy team from Tony Potts who describes himself as " Community Safety Manager" of East Cheshire.
They are in possession of the registration No R613 MVV with photographs of a rogue trader operating within their borough.
Tony Potts further claims that their Environmental Health Department and the Cheshire Constabulary, have also been unable to locate this vehicle or it's operator.

Now pardon me, but the councils licensing section, the environmental health officer(s) and the Cheshire Police cannot find a bright Red ice cream van that is chiming around Poynton on a daily basis, despite having the registration number and photographs??

Somebody is having a laugh here at the council taxpayers expense. There are approximately 9 of these unlicensed vehicles operating within East Cheshire, all avoiding the license fee (£3280) loss of revenue, further avoiding any hygiene checks required by law, and probably with no public liability insurance, and yet all of the above people/agencies (according to Mr Potts) are unable to locate these vehicles?
Mr Potts is probably not interested in bringing in this revenue, after all he will be paid by the council tax payer whether or not.

More importantly, what is a "Community Safety Manager" doing all day? If you Google ice cream man prosecuted, you will find lots of horror stories where they have been selling cigarettes to children and worse.!!CLICK HERE!!
These people stay off the radar for a reason, many of them will be claiming unemployment benefit, many will not be registered with the tax man.
How well do you know your ice cream man? What is his surname? Has he got a hygiene certificate and public liability insurance? Has he got a criminal record? Do you really care?
E-mail him at: Tony Potts Community Safety Manager

Poynton Whippy goes "International"

In a very busy week (because the sun came out) Poynton Whippy has also been granted a license for Stockport. After repeated requests from children in Hazel Grove and Bramhall, we are now delighted to service their area. Poynton will of course be the main focus of our service, but not all parents appreciate the ice cream van every day. honestly kids.

We were unable to make the high school today, but will be back tomorrow, weather permitting.

Check out two new "doggy friends" enjoying their whippy below. The little pup is from Bramhall and the larger doggy is from Hazelbadge. If you would like your pooch featured, bring them to the van for a photo of them enjoying their whippy - RRRRufffff

Beats winalot
Hope he comes tomorrow

Whippy surgeon saves the day

Local man LCJ mobile mechanic rushed to whippy hospital this morning and performed emergency surgery on the whippy van.
We were at the school for the crush and made it to local residents at home and Deva.
Tomorrow we will be off for the day at events in Marple and Hazel Grove, back on Friday weather permitting.

What a day!! Rain and breakdown

The sun was out all day - right up until the high school gates opened, then it lashed down. One or two pupils braved the rain for a whippy, but most ran for home. As soon as they had all gone, the sun came back out!!

For about an hour it was whippy as usual, and then the wheels came off - well not quite, but the whippy van had to be taken back to whippy hospital, in the whippy ambulance. The surgeons will "operate" tomorrow to transplant a new wheel bearing. All being well, we will be back today, if not, Thursday at the latest.

Poynton High School back today

The weather stayed dry and it was good to get back to routine (not sure all the kids agree) It is forecast mixed weather for the rest of the week. The whippy van will be about as long as it is dry.

The roadworks are causing some changes to the van schedule though, tending to stay between Park Lane and Dickens Lane early on to avoid traffic.
It is also getting dark earlier already, which means we will be finishing earlier. On the plus side, the Hot Dogs will be on in October.
